Cooling crisis averted, Plano West students set to return to class Tuesday after A/C debacle
Plano, Texas – After an unplanned hiatus owing to the malfunction of its air conditioning system, Plano West Senior High School, an educational institution serving over 2,700 upperclassmen, is set to recommence its academic operations on Tuesday.
The school was closed on Friday last week and Monday this week due to A/C problems
The school had been compelled to suspend instructional activities on both Friday and Monday as technicians labored assiduously to address the critical maintenance issue.

“We look forward to welcoming back our students and staff at our regular arrival times,” the district said on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
Although the Plano Independent School District (Plano ISD) cautions that the current mechanical resolution constitutes a provisional measure, they assert that it should suffice in maintaining a comfortable internal environment until a more robust and lasting repair can be instituted.
“We will closely monitor the system. Our facilities team and outside professional contractors will begin a more extensive and permanent repair following dismissal Friday, Sept. 1,” the district said on X. “We expect to have all repairs completed before classes resume Sept. 5, after the Labor Day holiday.”
Given that meteorological forecasts predict sub-centennial temperatures throughout the majority of the week, concerns over excessive heat appear somewhat mitigated.
However, such projections stipulate an impending resurgence of triple-digit temperatures commencing this Friday and persisting through the Labor Day weekend—further emphasizing the district’s urgent need to finalize all repairs by September 5, when classes are slated to resume post-holiday.
