Free Prom Dresses Available This Weekend
Prom season is here and Arlington ISD is ready to make sure every girl has the perfect dress for their special occasion. Thanks to the Junior League of Arlington’s Glass Slipper Program, girls have been able to access gorgeous, free prom dresses for the last 15 years. This year’s Glass Slipper Boutique is going to be the biggest yet, with over 250 girls already signed up and the potential to give away up to 500 dresses!
The Junior League of Arlington has an impressive inventory of over 1,000 new or gently used dresses, with a huge donation from Macy’s and 600 brand-new dresses from M.T.O. Shahmaghsoudi School of Islamic Sufism for Global Action Day. Accessories, shoes and even a limited supply of boys’ prom gear will also be available.
Julie Reinhardt, the Community Vice President for the JLA, is delighted about the event. “We look forward to this event every year, but this year is really shaping up to be a special one,” she said. “I’d love to give away 500 dresses. We have more people signed up and more dresses to give away.”
The event will be held this Friday and Saturday at the Junior League of Arlington, and volunteers will be on hand to help girls try on their dresses. Arlington ISD schools and neighboring districts are welcome to attend, so that no girl is left without a perfect dress.
The Glass Slipper Boutique has been bringing smiles to girls’ faces for 15 years, and this year looks to be the most successful yet. With donations from generous organizations and the promise of a beautiful gown for every girl, it’s sure to be an unforgettable night.
