Dallas ISD Early Learning Team Rolls Out Strategic Recruitment Strategy

The Dallas Independent School District (ISD) Early Learning team and volunteers hit the streets last week, encouraging parents to register their children for pre-K programs. Staff and volunteers knocked on the doors of dozens of homes in 30 Dallas neighborhoods, sharing information about the importance of high-quality pre-K enrollment opportunities in their communities.

The strategic recruitment strategy dubbed “Pressing the Pavement” was aimed at strengthening parent-teacher connections, registering district students early, and ensuring that parents in the district had access to the best pre-K educational opportunities. The Early Learning team went above and beyond to reach parents where they are by visiting local businesses in their neighborhoods to provide registration information and answer questions families may have had about the registration process.

According to Yesenia Ramirez, Director of Early Learning, “Pressing the Pavement is a strategic recruitment strategy to support our families with Pre-K registration information in their community. The Early Learning teams knock door to door and visit local businesses to provide Pre-K registration information and be able to answer questions our families may have.”

Pre-K online registration is scheduled to go live on Saturday, April 1, 2023, for the 2023-2024 school year, and interested families are encouraged to take advantage of the Early Learning team’s registration pop-up events throughout the district.

Furthermore, parents can text “PREK” to (972) 687-7735, visit prekdallas.org and call the Pre-K Enrollment Hotline at (214) 932-7735 for more information. In addition to the registration events, the Early Learning team will continue visiting businesses and door-to-door engagement activities to encourage districts students’ early registration and parent-teacher involvement.

The Early Learning team’s strategic recruitment plan is a crucial part of the district’s commitment to providing excellent educational opportunities to every student in its care, regardless of location-specific challenges. Overall, this outreach effort illustrates the Early Learning team’s dedication to ensuring that our youngest learners receive the best possible education, setting them on a pathway to lifelong success.
