Mesquite names Javan Gonzalez new Visit Mesquite Manager, he took over on October 1

Mesquite, Texas – In a significant administrative update, the City of Mesquite has appointed Javan Gonzalez as the new Visit Mesquite Manager, effective from the 1st of October. Known for his exceptional digital marketing acumen, Mr. Gonzalez boasts a solid decade of experience from both public and private sectors.

His association with the Visit Mesquite team began in April 2023 when he stepped in as the Marketing Coordinator. His remarkable performance in this role has not only led to his recent promotion but also established him as a crucial asset to the city.

“Javan has been a tremendous asset since he was hired, and we are excited to have him step up into this role,” said Kim Buttram, City of Mesquite Director of Economic Development. “Javan is innovative and creative. He has already raised the City’s profile and reach, especially on our social media channels.”

The news broke out following the hearty praises from Kim Buttram, the City of Mesquite’s Director of Economic Development, who lauded Mr. Gonzalez’s innovative and creative prowess.

Before this prestigious appointment, Mr. Gonzalez played a central role in daily operations at Experience El Dorado in Kansas, leading the city’s Convention & Visitors Bureau. His stint in El Dorado saw the inception of community-focused events like the annual City of Gold Festival, the El Dorado Farmers Market, and the iconic El Do Kid’s Week. This level of professional commitment aligns with his previous roles, where he led marketing campaigns at Ad Astra Agency and expanded digital content and social media outreach with JAG Media.

In his new role as the Visit Mesquite Manager, Mr. Gonzalez will oversee the collaboration between the Visit Mesquite Coordinator and the Visitor Center Specialist, orchestrating a harmonious alliance aimed at enhancing Mesquite’s appeal as a destination. Visit Mesquite, founded in 1988, serves as the official guide leading visitors to the diverse attractions of Mesquite.

The city, with an annual footfall of around 1.6 million visitors, cherishes the arrival of leisure travelers and convention attendees who significantly boost the local economy, spending an average of $143 per person.
