Two suspects killed as Fort Worth police respond to separate armed encounters
Fort Worth, Texas – Fort Worth police are sorting through a violent overnight sequence that left two suspects dead and one officer injured after two separate officer-involved shootings unfolded hours apart in the same area.
The first call came shortly after midnight Saturday. According to Fort Worth police, officers were sent around 12:15 a.m. to the 4200 block of Wiman Drive after reports of multiple shots being fired. When they arrived, police said they heard more gunfire nearby and moved toward the sound.
Officers then found a man armed with a gun, the department said. Police said the officers ordered him to drop the weapon, but he did not follow their commands. Instead, according to the release, he pointed the gun at officers. At least one officer fired, striking the man.
Police said officers immediately tried to provide life-saving aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were hurt during that first confrontation. The suspect’s name had not been released.

Hours later, while officers were still working the first scene, the situation took another dangerous turn.
Around 4:15 a.m., police said officers noticed a white SUV speeding past them several times near the investigation area. Authorities said the vehicle appeared to be driven toward officers standing near their patrol cars, as if the driver was trying to hit them.
Officers attempted to stop the SUV, but police said the driver refused to comply and a pursuit began. The chase lasted about 15 minutes before officers used a PIT maneuver to force the vehicle to stop off Interstate 820 near Lancaster Avenue.
As officers approached the SUV with their weapons drawn, they ordered the suspect to comply. Police said the man instead grabbed a gun from an officer. Multiple officers then fired, striking him.
As in the first shooting, police said officers tried to save the man’s life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. One officer was injured during the second incident and taken to a nearby hospital. Police said he was in good condition. The exact nature of the injury was not immediately clear, though a department spokesperson said it was believed to involve the officer’s arm.
The second suspect’s name had not been released, and police had not said whether the two incidents were connected.
Detectives with the Major Case unit were called in and are continuing to investigate both shootings. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fort Worth Police Department at 817-392-4222.
