Dallas based discount retailer Tuesday Morning is closing all remaining 59 stores in Texas
Dallas, Texas – In a staggering move marking the end of an almost half-century-long commercial odyssey, Tuesday Morning, the stalwart discount retailer headquartered in Dallas, Texas, has issued a declaration of imminent closure for their remaining outlets. This disheartening announcement follows in the wake of an extensive series of closures which have witnessed dozens of the company’s stores permanently shuttering their doors.
The sweeping wave of Tuesday Morning’s store closures, initiated as early as February, has already resulted in 265 store shutdowns. Embarking on the last lap of its journey, the company is now orchestrating massive liquidation sales across its surviving outlets, with 59 in Texas alone.
A veritable retail titan in its heyday, Tuesday Morning boasted nearly 700 stores at the apex of its prosperity, prior to its maiden voyage into bankruptcy in 2020. As per an analysis by Retail Dive, the company’s latest securities filing revealed a diminished store count of 487.
This strategic downsizing, primarily intended to bolster the company’s position in core markets, constitutes an integral part of Tuesday Morning’s reconfiguration blueprint under the auspices of its ongoing Chapter 11 proceedings.
Regarding the Bankruptcy, Tuesday Morning CEO Andrew Berger said in a statement few months ago that partnering with Gordon Bros. gives the company liquidity and “the best opportunity to save jobs, serve customers and maximize value for the estate.”
For the uninitiated, Tuesday Morning has garnered popularity as a purveyor of a vast array of goods spanning diverse categories. Its product portfolio includes upscale home furnishings from renowned brands, household essentials, bath and body products, infant gifts, craft supplies, gourmet food items, home décor, branded bedding, rugs, seasonal decorations, toys, wall art, and an assortment of other products.
For the moment, a handful of Tuesday Morning outlets remain operational in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Their presence extends to East Texas, with outlets located in Longview at 305 W. Loop 281, Paris at 3510 Lamar Ave., Texarkana at 2315 Richmond Rd., and Tyler at 322 ESE Loop 323, providing a brief respite to loyal patrons.
