Empowering communities: Project LEAD aims to shape future leaders in Mesquite and Balch Springs

Mesquite, Texas – In a remarkable cooperative effort, the City of Mesquite, the Mesquite Independent School District, and the City of Balch Springs have joined forces to establish Project LEAD, an initiative designed to cultivate and enhance leadership skills among local citizens.

Project LEAD seeks enthusiastic residents eager to engage with their community by learning about leadership principles, honing their civic leadership abilities, and contributing to the growth of their respective cities and school district. The aim is to empower individuals to become active participants in the development and health of their communities and schools.

“The health of our communities and schools depends on residents being informed and engaged,” said Cliff Keheley, Mesquite City Manager, in a press release. “Through Project LEAD, participants will develop personal leadership skills as well as build connections with civic leaders.”

LEAD projects will consist of four sessions set to take place from coming October to January next year

The program will consist of four sessions, with participants committing to attend each one. The sessions are scheduled for 6:30-8 p.m. on October 17th, November 7th, December 5th, and January 16th. During these meetings, cohort members will acquire leadership skills and gain insights into effective collaboration with city and school district officials. Designed to inspire attendees to serve on local boards, commissions, and organizations, Project LEAD also aims to cultivate future elected officials.

Further details about the required sessions, including meeting locations, will be communicated to cohort members once the group has been established.
