Dallas – A former graduate student of Southern Methodist University (SMU) has been arrested and charged with making what university authorities have deemed “serious, credible threats” to staff members. Brian Jackel, a 39-year-old former engineering student, was taken into custody at his residence in Duncanville by SMU police officers, who had obtained both a felony arrest warrant and a search warrant for his home.
The nature of the alleged threats made by Jackel has not been revealed by SMU officials, but the university’s police department has assured the public that the case is being taken seriously.
