Keep Mesquite Beautiful to celebrate 35th anniversary with Butterfly Ball gala
Mesquite, Texas – Marking a significant milestone in their mission to beautify the City of Mesquite, Keep Mesquite Beautiful (KMB) is gearing up to celebrate its 35th anniversary this fall. As part of the festivities, KMB will host a grand fundraising gala, named the Butterfly Ball, to commemorate the decades-long impact they have made in enhancing the city’s aesthetic and ecological landscape.
The Butterfly Ball gala is set to take place on September 16 at 6 p.m. at the Mesquite Convention Center
The Butterfly Ball is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 16, at the Mesquite Convention Center. The gala promises an unforgettable evening featuring an elegant reception, a gourmet dinner, and a riveting auction accompanied by the harmonious melodies of live music and the rhythmic beat of dancing.
Tickets, starting at a reasonable $75, will be available for purchase until September 2. For those wishing to lend their support to the event on a larger scale, opportunities for table bookings and event sponsorships are open to interested parties.
Jonathan Chitty, KMB’s Executive Director, highlighted the symbolism behind the Butterfly Ball’s name, drawing a connection to Mesquite’s affinity for these enchanting winged creatures. Mesquite is home to the Paschall Park Butterfly Trail, which has earned the distinction of being a certified Monarch Waystation by Monarchwatch.org, as well as a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. The City’s commitment to butterfly conservation extends further through its participation in the Mayor’s Monarch Pledge program and the successful hosting of its inaugural Monarch Fest in July.
“The butterfly is an inspirational symbol for KMB,” he said, according to a press release. “Butterflies teach us that beauty evolves and has to be nurtured. It’s a process. KMB is proud to have been making Mesquite a more beautiful place for 35 years. The Butterfly Ball is a community celebration of this heritage as well as our excitement for the future.
Throughout the year, Keep Mesquite Beautiful (KMB) is at the forefront of initiatives aimed at fostering a cleaner and greener Mesquite, facilitating numerous events and projects designed to engage and educate local residents about recycling, litter reduction, and city beautification. One of KMB’s upcoming initiatives is the Trash Bash, set to take place on September 30th, which will bring together community members with a shared goal of tidying up the city. Among other prominent events organized by KMB this fall are the Mesquite Recycles Day, scheduled for November 4th, and the Recycled Fashion Show, which will be held on November 11th at Town East Mall.

One of KMB’s most impactful and longstanding initiatives is the Adopt-a-Spot program, which invites families, neighborhood associations, businesses, churches, schools, and other organizations to take stewardship of specific locations within the city for a two-year period. Once a location is adopted, a sign featuring the name of the adopting group is prominently displayed, signaling their commitment to the beautification of that particular area. The adopting group is then responsible for conducting six clean-ups annually, with all necessary supplies being graciously provided by KMB. The program has seen notable success, with approximately 20 organizations having already adopted various locations throughout the city.
