The city of Plano is celebrating its 150th birthday on June 3

Plano, Texas – As Plano approaches its 150th anniversary, residents from all walks of life are warmly invited to partake in the festivities.

The commemorative event will take place at Haggard Park on Saturday, June 3, between 4 and 8 p.m. The park will be adorned with Plano-themed decorations to pay tribute to the city’s rich history. A variety of engaging activities, including a card-making station, face painting, live performances, and more are planned to entertain the attendees.

Mark Thompson, Executive Director of Visit Plano, emphasized the significance of this milestone. “Reaching the 150-year mark is a momentous occasion. It provides us with an opportunity to reflect on our past and anticipate the future. It’s a chance for all of us in the community to come together in celebration,” he said.

Thompson indicated that they expect thousands of local citizens to join in the celebration. The goal is to replicate an old-fashioned communal picnic atmosphere, he added.

Haggard Park is all set to host numerous attractions, including a children’s play area, live performance stages, and food trucks. There will also be informational booths representing various city departments, allowing visitors to delve into Plano’s history.

As the celebration reaches its crescendo, a spectacular fireworks display will light up the night sky. This will be followed by a group sing-along, capping off the event. The celebration continues, with participants invited to McCall Plaza by the Filmore Pub for an afterparty.
