Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s Silver Line project is in early stages, but City of Plano wants locals’ input

Plano, Texas – Aiming to shape the future of transportation in North Texas, the city of Plano is actively soliciting public perspectives on the design plans for its two proposed stations, part to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s (DART) ambitious Silver Line project.

The Silver Line, a regional commuter train projected at a staggering cost of $1.8 billion, is envisioned to connect seven cities together, effectively bridging the gap between Plano and the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

According to details available on the Plano comprehensive plan’s website, DART is optimistic that the anticipated service may commence as early as the tail end of 2025.

Slated for 1101 Shiloh Road and 1180 12th Street, the two prospective Plano stations represent a critical juncture in the Silver Line Station Areas Plan. This initiative is meticulously evaluating the optimal means to stimulate both development and rejuvenation opportunities within the half-mile vicinity of the stations under consideration.

As the comprehensive plan’s website delineates, these stations are poised to become a veritable “economic development catalyst” that will invigorate southeast Plano and spur growth in the greater downtown core.

The civic administration has made available a public survey related to the Silver Line Station Areas Plan on its website, providing residents an accessible channel to express their views.

An open house meeting, serving as an interactive platform for further deliberations on the project, has been scheduled for June 28, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Sam Johnson Recreation Center, located at 401 W. 16th Street.

As part of their comprehensive consultation strategy, the city authorities are also encouraging residents, business proprietors, and other interested stakeholders to become an integral part of the project advisory group.
