Frisco Chamber of Commerce names Christal Howard interim president and CEO after President Tony Felker announces retirement

Frisco, Texas – In a recent revelation marking the end of a significant era, Tony Felker, the stalwart President of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, has declared his intent to retire. The announcement came to light on June 20, establishing the end date of his impressive 19-year tenure to be August 17.

Felker, whose impact on the chamber has been substantial and lasting, leaves behind an indelible legacy.

“People say you should leave something better than when you found it, and I am very proud to have done just that,” Felker said in the release. “Working with an amazing team and board of directors over the years, we have grown financially in operations and reserves and achieved our Five-Star Accreditation.”

Throughout his time at the helm of the chamber, Felker has spearheaded substantial growth in both the organization’s operations and its financial reserves, helping the chamber to secure its esteemed Five-Star Accreditation.

Felker’s accomplishments have been manifold. He initiated the innovative Leadership Exchange Trip program, ushered in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, and even laid the strategic groundwork for the impending Frisco Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The latter, a 501(c)(3) organization, is set to be a transformative addition to the chamber’s current roster of initiatives.

In the wake of Felker’s impending departure, the chamber board has promptly appointed Christal Howard, the incumbent Chief Operating Officer, as the interim President and CEO.

Howard, who assumed her current role only in January, will take up her new responsibilities immediately. This transition, confirmed in the same news release on June 20, is indicative of the chamber’s intent to ensure seamless continuity in its leadership.

“The future of the Frisco Chamber is bright,” Board Chair Ashley Miller said in the release.

“Tony has built an amazing team that is responsible for so many accomplishments, including the implementation of the strategic plan, the onboarding of the Frisco Chamber Foundation, and many others. Please join me in thanking Tony for his 19 years of service that have uniquely positioned the Frisco Chamber of Commerce as one of the top chambers in the country. Our community is better because of him. The staff and board look forward to continuing our unprecedented momentum as we connect, grow, lead and serve the city of Frisco.”
