Border Battle – Texas Governor defends state’s rights in face of federal lawsuit

Texas – In an uncompromising defense of his controversial decision, Texas Governor Greg Abbott ardently announced the installation of an immense floating border barrier along the Rio Grande, aiming to obstruct the unlawful ingress of undocumented immigrants into the United States.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott defends state’s rights and decisions regarding the border

“I will do whatever I have to do to defend our state from the invasion of the Mexican drug cartels and others who have tried to come into our country illegally, and I will protect our sovereignty,” said the three-term Republican governor while addressing the state’s Republican county chairs on Friday, according to Austin-based Fox 7.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott reaction comes after DOJ initiated legal proceedings

This staunch declaration follows mere days after the United States Department of Justice initiated legal proceedings, filing a lawsuit to dismantle a roughly 1,000-foot line of bright orange buoys, comparable in size to wrecking balls, strewn across the river that demarcates the boundary between the United States and Mexico. The Biden administration has taken a firm stance, contending that the measure not only violates legal principles but also precipitates humanitarian and environmental quandaries.

Constructed near Eagle Pass, a municipality widely regarded as a principal gateway for illegal border crossings, the inventive yet divisive contraption was unveiled earlier this month. Governor Abbott has emphasized its mobility and adaptability, stating that it can be both repositioned and expanded to shield areas identified as “hot spots” where asylum seekers attempt illicit entry.

“It’s called operation hold the line,” he said. “They are holding the line and ensuring that nobody enters the state of Texas illegally.”

“He gave me a lawsuit, and by God, Joe Biden, we will see you in court,” said Abbott.

“I challenge the federal government to show that they have spent that much money in the state of Texas on the border under Joe Biden as president.”
