Stepping up for education, Dallas schools and Soles4Souls join forces to aid homeless students
In a grand display of community collaboration, the Dallas Independent School District’s Homeless Education Program has joined forces with the charitable organization Soles4Souls to provide an influx of thousands of new athletic shoes for students grappling with homelessness.
By means of their well-acclaimed 4EveryKid program, Soles4Souls is diligently working to furnish athletic footwear, thereby eradicating impediments to both educational and extracurricular pursuits.
“Soles4Souls is thrilled to expand our 4EveryKid program in Dallas and work directly with the Dallas ISD Homeless Assistance Program to serve students facing homelessness and housing insecurity,” said Buddy Teaster, CEO of Soles4Souls, as reported by NBC DFW.
Dallas ISD and Soles4Souls to provide more than 20,000 pairs of shoes and socks to students in need
Projections are optimistic, anticipating the provision of more than 20,000 pairs of shoes and socks to the city’s underserved youth over the forthcoming half-decade. Under the aegis of Cambridge Holdings, among other benefactors, the aspiration to proliferate the program across the entire metroplex appears within tangible reach.
“Shoes matter in ways that are hard to understand until you don’t have them. This will help keep them in school and feel like they are equal,” said Jean-Claude Saada, Cambridge Holdings founder and CEO.
Soles4Souls has so far realized 60% of their goal for the forthcoming academic year
The concerted efforts of Cambridge Holdings and Lyda Hill Philanthropies have already borne fruit, with Soles4Souls realizing 60% of its lofty goal to outfit every student in Dallas ISD for the forthcoming academic term.
“Footwear is an item that, generally, cannot be purchased through grant funding, so this partnership and initiative is immensely important to fully support the needs of our homeless children and youth,” said Dallas ISD District Homeless Liaison Ashley Marshall.
