Mesquite, Texas – In an endeavor to enliven the autumnal atmosphere with community-driven activities, Mesquite Parks and Recreation has orchestrated a duo of family-oriented events scheduled for the month of October.
Movies in the Park series event set to take place on October 7 in Mesquite
Slated for Saturday, October 7, the department will present the season’s grand finale of its much-celebrated Movies in the Park series with a dusk screening of the popular movie, “The Addams Family 2.” Attendees will be regaled with a variety of pre-show diversions commencing at 7 p.m. The smorgasbord of entertainment includes such activities as face painting, basketball, and volleyball, not to mention a modest array of snack concessions.

The event, which carries the additional allure of being cost-free to the public, will unfurl its cinematic canvas at the verdant expanse of Rorie-Galloway Day Camp, located at 3100 Lawson Road. Patrons are encouraged to furnish their own blankets and lawn chairs for an optimized viewing experience. Gastronomic offerings will be available for purchase, courtesy of Fera’s Grill food truck, to satiate any emergent cravings.
PumpkinFest event is set to take place on October 21 at Paschall Park
Fast forwarding to Saturday, October 21, the municipality will once again adorn Paschall Park, situated at 1001 New Market Road, with its annual PumpkinFest. The festival, scheduled to span from noon until 5 p.m., offers a veritable cornucopia of autumnal attractions, replete with the debut of a labyrinthine hay maze and an accompanying hay ride—new additions that are poised to enhance the event’s pastoral charm.
Festivities will not be confined to mere novelty, however, as a triad of competitive endeavors—comprising costume contests for both juveniles and adults, a canine apparel competition, and a pumpkin-pie eating face-off—invites participants to showcase their skills and sartorial ingenuity.
Additionally, the PumpkinFest arena will be punctuated by a myriad of other amusements, ranging from a pumpkin patch and carnival-style games to inflatable bounce houses. Supplementary to these attractions are face painting stations and an eclectic line-up of performers gracing the community stage.
An artisanal corner devoted to arts and crafts provides a creative outlet, while a sprawling area designated for trick-or-treating offers sugary enticements. Rounding off the gastronomic aspect of the festivity, a selection of food trucks specializing in autumnal delicacies will offer their wares for purchase.
