Dallas authorities confirm death of gunshot victim and continue open case review as questions remain about what led to violence on South Jim Miller Road
Dallas, Texas – Late Thursday night, police officers in Dallas were called to the scene of a reported shooting in the 200 block of South Jim Miller Road, beginning an investigation that remains active.
According to authorities, the call came in at approximately 10:25 p.m. on February 5, 2026. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire-Rescue personnel responded shortly afterward and transported the victim to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Despite those efforts, the man later died from his injuries.
Officials said the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office will assist in confirming the identity of the victim. As detectives worked through the early stages of the case, they identified 44-year-old Juaquai Gregg during the investigation.
Gregg was discovered to have an outstanding warrant and was taken into custody on that basis. Police emphasized that no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide itself.
Investigators continue to gather evidence and piece together the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The case remains open and is being tracked under case number 017097-2026.
