Man and woman arrested for child injury at local school after severe injuries prompted investigation

Texas – In a troubling update from the Forney community, local police have arrested two residents—James Richard II and Syasandrea Conroy—on serious charges of harming a minor. These acts are considered first-degree felonies under Texas law. The arrests were made on Friday, September 8, after an in-depth investigation led by the Forney Police Department.

The situation came to light after an emergency call requested police presence at a local elementary school within the Forney Independent School District. The call was made in response to a child who had suffered significant and recent injuries, requiring immediate attention.

Forney police officers immediately started an investigation after arrived at the school

Upon arriving at the school, officers quickly assessed the severity of the child’s injuries and called for urgent medical care. The child was immediately taken to a local healthcare facility for thorough evaluation and treatment.

To ensure the safety of the injured child and a sibling, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services temporarily took custody of both children. This move helped to protect them from any further harm.

Following the investigation, a search warrant was executed at the suspects’ residence, leading to the discovery of substantial evidence. Both Richard and Conroy were then arrested and taken to the city jail on a single count of injury to a child, a charge that has serious legal consequences.

The Forney Police Department expressed its gratitude to the staff of Forney ISD, the Department of Family and Protective Services, and hospital personnel for their commendable efforts in addressing the immediate needs of the affected child.

“The safety and security of children are of the utmost importance, we ask the community to please come forward and report if you suspect abuse of any kind,” the department said in a statement.

The investigation is ongoing, police said, and other charges may be forthcoming.
