Plano, Texas – The Collin County District Attorney’s Office has disclosed the sentencing of a Plano resident, 45-year-old Darius Bradford, to a life term in prison. This sentence is the consequence of his nefarious acts, surreptitiously recording women in numerous ‘up-skirt and undressing videos.’

Plano Police Departments started looking into Darius Bradford last August

Bradford faced conviction on three charges of Burglary of a Habitation with the Intent to Commit Invasive Visual Recording, a crime that he carried out with a worrying level of duplicity. This case’s roots trace back to an episode that unfolded on August 24, 2022, as recounted by the Plano Police Department.

Police responded to a call at an apartment complex that day, which saw the manager reporting a woman’s disconcerting discovery: the maintenance technician, identified as Bradford, had left his cellphone in her bathroom, evidently with the intent to record her without her knowledge or consent.

Upon the arrival of the officers, Bradford’s cellphone initiated a remote erasure process, a stark and desperate attempt to obliterate any damning evidence. Nonetheless, law enforcement personnel succeeded in retrieving videos that clearly depicted Bradford arranging his phone in the unsuspecting victim’s bathroom and subsequently leaving it to capture her in private moments. They were able to corroborate this act had taken place on three distinct occasions.

Furthermore, the investigation unfolded a series of additional illicit videos housed on Bradford’s personal devices. A chilling total of 47 intrusive videos depicted Bradford’s methodical invasion of privacy, capturing numerous unsuspecting victims in various retail outlets and apartment complexes within the community. Among the victims was a 15-year-old girl, the daughter of Bradford’s former partner.

Bradford is well-known to local authorities as he had been caught in previous incidents in Dallas County

An exploration of court records revealed Bradford’s grim past, featuring two earlier arrests related to invasive visual recording. Bradford was first implicated in 2008 at a Ross department store in Dallas County. Following his failure to attend mandated sex offender treatment, Bradford served a 30-day stint in county jail. A subsequent arrest occurred in 2010, following Bradford’s surreptitious recording of a woman at the Galleria mall. Despite the allegations, this instance did not lead to prosecution.

The offense of Burglary of a Habitation, under state law, is designated as a second-degree felony, generally meriting a prison term of between two to 20 years. However, when committed with an intention to perpetrate a felony unrelated to theft, the charge escalates to a first-degree felony. This upgraded charge carries a more severe range of punishment, from five to 99 years, or alternatively, a life term in prison.

As of June 2023, Bradford had entered a guilty plea for the charges of burglary of habitation. As a result, the jury was tasked with determining his punishment. The Collin County District Attorney’s office revealed the jury’s verdict: a life sentence for each charge, marking the conclusion of Bradford’s troubling saga.

“This perpetrator violated the privacy of 23 different women on 47 different occasions by secretly recording up-skirt and undressing videos. He used his job to gain access and his manipulative personality to gain their trust, definitely earning him a life sentence,” said Collin County DA Greg Willis after sentencing.
